At Risk Kids - 16/07/09

One of the pilot program by my company and Queensway Sec was to implement a At Risk Youth program, specially to tackle kids with difficult background.... they are kids who have been very poor in attendance in school.. either bcos of family background, or lack of friends at school..

This week was the start of the 8 day program.
I planned most of the program from start, and last min had to go in to do the training because one of trainers have to pull out for the 1st week of lessons. So there i was with my other trainer, first time pretty nervous of what's ahead of us.

Surprisingly, it turn out to be quite ok... in fact, it is much better than expected. Today was the 3rd day of lessons. From the total strength of 16 students, we had 8 students on day 1, 10 students on day 2 and 12 students on day 3. these are good signs that the program are working in some ways.

The HOD and teacher in charge of this program has been helpful and also passionate in helping the kids. I see a good role model not only for the kids, but also for me to look to. Glad that i could be involved in this project. Though the trainer will be back next week, i will hope to pop in as and when to see how the kids progresses. and hopefully whatever i say or do during the last 3 days has an impact on some kids.
